We took a guided tour of the Mount Wilson Observatory last weekend. If you have nothing to do, I recommend it. Here is a map that will take you there. http://www.mtwilson.edu/vis/map.pdf.
You will learn a great deal through the art of oral tradition as you listen to the tour guide and walk a bit. I myself study both Astrology and Astronomy. The history of discoveries made here is interesting., such as the Andromeda galaxy. I was amazed at the politics that went into the process of creating this Observatory. George Ellery Hale is the individual that birthed this place into existence. One person can really make a big difference.
