** Hudley Flipside Public Image

Hudley Flipside (HUD) is an all around the place artist, cartoonist, journalist, and author. She is a documentary filmmaker, a bard, punk, and mystic. She enjoys blogging on her WordPress site. She also runs The Seminary of Praying Mantis Publishing. A co-owner and editor of now defunct punk rock fanzine Los Angeles Flipside Fanzine. (1979-1989) [2002].
She has published two books about the original punk rock scene telling her story and giving a voice to a generation of punks and interesting underground characters. The real deal in real time.

On rainy days my mother would throw plastic watercolor paint containers, crayons, and paper on the floor.

“Time for art,” she would say.

There was a big chalk board on the wall of my bedroom with colored chalk galore.

Expression by creative means has always been my thing.

As I got older it became a meditation as I observed nature. I love to create with pencils, Sharpie pens, and watercolors. It is a natural way that inspires me and hopefully others. My youngest son says,

“I put soul in my paintings.”

This year I entered one of my narrative documentary / films “Los Angeles Flipside Fanzine Epeisodion One” to two local Los Angeles film festivals. LA Punk Film Festival and Les Femmes Underground Film Festival. Also, an international reach to Serbest International Film Festival (SIFF).

Also, this year I chose to enter two of my watercolors to Grey Cube Gallery. An open online art contest for the month of April.

Maybe turning 65 has made me want to reach out and share and be part of something that is alive and happening. Like ordering something different at your favorite restaurant. It is a wonderful way to be surprised sometimes.

Yes, I am inspired to do so.
