Punk The Capital FILM BY JAMES JUNE SCHNEIDER, PAUL BISHOW, AND SAM LAVINE
2019 At the Los Angeles premier
It took a few years until this documentary came out. Yet I was told on the night of the premier in front of the venue theater that I was edited out. Before this I helped them promote Punk The Capital. It was most likely the crudest part of the harDCore scene I ever experienced. A ruthless crew.

Interview at my home with oldest son taking pictures.

It was at the debut of Punk the Capital Documentary in Los Angeles. I was excited and helped promote the documentary and was interviewed in it, as well as my creative format was used throughout the documentary. Ian was there with Henry Rollins and the creator James Schneider. I was told that night I was excluded, edited out, from the doc and replaced by an insert of Boyd Farrell, Black Market Baby reading a letter from Flipside. At the event they all knew I was there, but Ian patronized me, excluded me and all of them extremely acted men’s club… sexist. I was heartbroken. Ian knew I was there and said, “Where’s Al,” as though me being there as a Flipside co-owner and speaking for Flipside Fanzine and Los Angeles Punk in gneneral was not good enough. We were good friends once. He is very chauvinistic, and I heard and felt it for a fact. My good memories of him are soured.

February 2022 Forbidden Beat

Edited by S.W. Lauden Forward by Lucky Lehrer
FORBIDDEN BEAT: PERSPECTIVES ON PUNK DRUMMING (Rare Bird), some of today’s most respected writers and musicians explore the history of punk rock as viewed from behind the drum kit.
This paperback is punk rock groovy, as Saints Mr. Chris Bailey might say, sharing my top drummers list in the book with a colleague and others who I helped in his baby punk rock writer days. Nice guy who seems to put lots of music books out and deals with this publisher…. But I was slow to work with another publisher besides my own. Sign a contract when Mr. Cornell does not do anything honored in the contract unless “you” are forced to remind him. The long line of patronizing women in the rock world still is here, time to write that book. Yet this book is a good book. I just wish that another publisher was used cause this one is lousy. Yet you can ignore my womanly perspective and glory glory the male writers. A good read for a fanzine “book.” It is a small paperback yet a nice handheld special. All about the sound of drumming and drummer’s drumming punk rock hallelujah for ever and ever.
