FLOPSIDE COMICS ARE SEXY… like me and you! But not like DAHs… be more than a DAH.. thank you.
~Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.
In closed doors 13 senators decide. No disclosures no transparency. No women or african americans…. very white men only and republicans only. Very very conservative white men only. Exclusive group that speak for we the people. The 13 Senators are. Mitch McConnell, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, John Cornyn, John Thune, John Barrasso, Chairman Mr. Hutch. Lamar Alexander, Michael B. Enzi, Tom Cotton, Cory Gardner, Rob Portman and Patrick J. Toomey.
Flopside Comics suck and so do these Senators….
“I do not ask the wounded person how he feels, I myself become the wounded person.”
― Walt Whitman,
Capitalism and communism are not bad forms of governing but can become so! If these forms of government don’t hold the human being as self-evident and hold all of us as having a high valid place as in the core of the apple, then that sucks! The individual human spirit does govern us! Yet both forms of government can turn and bend and oppress the individual out of greed and power whipped into shape by a governing party or president holding a shadowy light! When this happens, it is a type of death to the human spirit, because it does not apply governing and service to all the people. Yes, not just the rich and/ or influential.
Today as we at Flopside comics witnessed the Senate Intelligence Committee interview NSA director Mike Rodgers and director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, we heard them stonewall the American people.
A darkness is upon us. A time when the worst of communism and capitalism flank togther and show its seething fangs. The breath of fascism is so close that we can smell the foul air.
So, we at Flopside Comics are anticipating that the good knight, Sir James Comey, will attend to the human spirit tomorrow. Anyway, this is where we put our hope.
“Records…..Records….and Records!!!!!” ~ Mike Vallejo
If you lived as a teen in the late ’70s or during the ’80s you were most likely riding the original wave or skating the rebellious cement of the original punk rock scene in some way, shape or form. Mike sent me a CD in the mail, like the good old days, of an early interview with Slash Magazine and Flipside Fanzine on Rodney on the ROQ. I am airing it again today. Mike said it was ok to post this on my blog.
Mike sells more than just records and seems to have a lot of music and things that document the early punk scene. I also purchased a CD from him of The Jam playing the Whisky A Go Go. A thrill for me to find. I am delighted to receive this CD. My mentors speak! I was most likely listening to this on my parents’ old WW II German Telefunken radio. WOW! Enjoy and thanks Mike Vallejo! A friend indeed.
The last audio 7 ends abruptly. I wrote a letter to Kickboy-face after hearing this live back when it was on the air. He wrote back a week later. Also I danced with him at the Whisky A Go Go live to Madness. It is strange but this captures pre Elks Lodge Riot... we all know how that turned out!!
Rodney on the ROQ Los Angeles Flipside Fanzine and Slash Magazine (KROQ)
I know that the nasty Slash characters played a song trick or two on Rodney… did you catch it… an utmost synchronicity for me…
“What is actually new in these interactions is the introduction of the financial aspect; if desired, the user has the possibility to monetize his expertise. Although, we can always share our experience for free, giving users the opportunity to have some financial compensation may enhance the potential of interactions by providing them credibility, recognizing their value and establishing a relationship of equals between the parties. Some people may well feel more at ease if, to complete their project, they have the possibility to ‘buy’ someone else’s know-how.” ~https://www.quora.com/What-do-you-consider-to-be-your-greatest-asset
It is ironic. My jewel, my opus magnum, and creations destroyed by the very same scene that gave me a voice. The punk scene gave me a voice. I self-taught myself or created myself in this void of rebellion. A new world. The ideologies, punk community where we helped each other. We confront the status quo and want to change things. My memories are something I share. It took me a long time but, a validation from financial gain is a necessity for a value of one’s art. What makes it valuable is relative. Time, attempt, joy, bliss, and humor. A joining in. I join into the community of the history of punk now. I took a vow in Jung’s terms.
I am confronted with violence, destruction and hate. What is my psyche doing now? How is the Cosmos responding to this? The fire of destruction. The depth of despair. The wheel of talk that becomes tiresome to others.
The band plays on…
I smell nothing today.
But the recurrence of something I cannot change.
I move forward as a phoenix
new possibilities new awareness
leaving the gutter behind me !
The Tape Recorder Issue. I dedicate this issue to the one and only tape recorder we used at Los Angeles Flipside Fanzine.
On the cover is one of my favorite pics of the early punk scene with Subhumans (Canadian Band) and Samoans. Greg Turner, Metal Mike, Wimpy, Hud, Gary and Jim. I am holding Flipside’s tape recorder. Picture by Al Flipside. Out soon.
