‘De trop’,no way !

KAREN: I guess at this point I am what the French call ‘de trop?’

BILL: (smiles) Maybe just a little around the edges.

~ All About Eve

The sciences are a good thing. Rover on Mars looking back at the Earth is amazing. Yet reading Dante Alighieri’s biography I find that he studied liberal arts courses,

“Which offered Latin, geometry, arithmetic, astronomy (actually astrology) and music was to be passionately attached all his life.”

During the Middle Ages science, art and music were not separate as they are today. With astrology, the planets affect us. Now I wonder how our Earth affects those on Mars or the other planets in our solar system?

My point being is that science is a very bare bones reality where all its theories are well supported, at least enough to go to other planets via technology.

I feel what makes Dante so special to me is that he is the perfect person who, at one time, brought together science, art, and music.  He is the perfected human being who shows us that having a soul is part of the human equation of being, and with an honest spirit humanity inspires to know all the stratosphere of human nature.

We are accountable for ourselves in a divine way. A highly creative solution to the problem of humanity!!! Humor included as Mr. Dante is no fool on this matter!!

Oldest son is just starting a physics course today at the local university. We often debate what is real and what is illusion, as two Gemini our Mercury fires up with heated dialogue.

And then there is Neptune. I love Neptune, the color and mystery of its round luminosity. I hear this week Mercury goes retrograde right into the belly of Neptune, astrologically speaking of course.

The week ahead is a time to feel. As Luna waxes strong into Valentine’s Day, it is a time of a kind of inner pregnancy of feelings; it may be a delightful time if we do not anally analyze too much.

I have decided to do the tango with Mercury, Luna, and Neptune this week…a threesome may be fun!! I will go with the flow, dance sweet and low and get it on the go.

Until next time … fin

Rocketdyne and Mission Burrito

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

    ~ Alan Watts

Those eerie, wild feelings of youth have not changed !! A few local words and yes it is offbeat and serendipitous… thank you!!

Our local Orchard Supply went out of business and now the local Albertsons. I understand that life is change, but does community have to change too: at this particular time in my life? The routine and getting to know people is an art form that takes some work.  Unaccepted waves wash this all away. Yet, Mission Burrito is open again!

A UFO flew over the valley last Friday. It seems even though the Rocketdyne property is being sold, the aliens don’t seem to know this yet. They are flying over it as they always have: since my youth. I remember the rocket testing, the sonic booms and Friday alarms. It sounded like the end of the world!!

Strange Forest

images (9)

You’ve been kidnapped and given a choice: would you rather be stranded on an island, dropped into an unknown forest, or locked in a strange building?

Dropped in a deep dark forest the last few years. Just by chance I see a book with illustrations. Is this any different from life? I say not. I have had the literature and often looked for the illustrations. Today in this strange forest I have found my holy grail of art. I am overwhelmed with what I have found!

Do I walk down the path of its illumination? Do I follow this mad mystic, as a fucking stupid literature professor once called him?

Sometimes rolling around with Pluto in the dark forest, one finds gifts. In the open forest above the dark inviting caves I have found more than his darkness but a path out of this dark forest.

Pluto did kidnap me into his dark forest. I addressed him and so, out of Persephone’s love and their Jester’s humor, on their behalf… I found my get away.

A mossy green stone which is soft for sitting, and light from the sun slanting upon my book, make the Illustrations shine forth. The sound of a bright clean stream that echoes each joyful heartbeat is my gift today!! Here I will study the Master’s creation!!

The Seminary of Praying Mantis is about nature politics and human beings. It is a voice of a little creature that survives the continuity of the seasons. It is all about life, death and rebirth.

I took on this title for my WordPress blog because I wanted to move away from my history of punk rock. I needed to expand to include all my interests. I admit the reason for creating this site was to promote a book I was working on entitled, The Seminary of Praying Mantis: A PUNKALULLABY. (The Punkalullaby title is based on stories I once wrote in Flipside Fanzine during the 1980s when publishing the fanzine.) Instead I found myself moving in other directions when writing. I still pivot and jump into the punk scene now and then, but not all the time.

I have been through some changes in the last four years. I lost my mom, dad and best friends. I also went through menopause, which was a bitch. Having this WordPress blog has saved my life. Writing is my cure and I love it.

I do not have a perfect writing style but a natural style. I am not trying to get anywhere or achieve some great success through writing. It is an “ising” experience.

I include a smörgåsbord of writing styles here. I am a punk rock writer that learns as she goes. My symbol for my style is the Praying Mantis.

The future may bring good news of publishing such as articles, books and more down to earth manifestations of my writing.

I am grateful for WordPress for giving me the opportunity to express myself; it is a great gift!!  I think it is a big part of my destiny.

Madame Blavatsky

July 17/2026

Today I was at the shopping market. Outside near my car putting my groceries away I saw an older woman almost fall. She told me the bag was heavier than she thought. We talked for a while. Then a bee came up to me. The bee rested on my upper hand on top of my Hollyhock tattoo. On the light-yellow star center

The bee was at the center. Calm as I was. The older woman asked,

“Are you afraid that the bee will sting you.?

“I said no.”

“I have a thing with bees. They seem to like my nectar.”

I am glad we talked the three of us. The older lady, the bee and me.

This morning, I went out to be with my cats and nature. A bee came up to me. Gentle from one ear and around to the next. This went on for some time. A type of buzzing communication. A bee blessing. I watched the bee fly away. To the lavender with the other bees.

I thought how intelligent bees are. More than we realize. How flowers, bees and nature and the sun coexist in a type of timeless harmony.

I asked the bees,

“Why can’t humanity live like this?”

A usually sudden manifestation or perception of the essential nature or meaning of something : an intuitive grasp of reality through something (as an event) usually simple and striking : an illuminating discovery, realization, or disclosure.

BLAVATSKY

Throughout the ages and across diverse cultures, we engage with the rich tapestry of oral traditions and myths that define this season.

Every culture and religion possess narratives that convey significant meanings; the perpetual interplay of light, shadow, and darkness surrounds us, embodied by the sun, moon, and stars.

In the solemn cave, the fire of our ancestors communicates profound truths, marking this moment as an epiphany.

Last night I read some more from the book Madame Blavatsky: The Mother of Modern Spirituality, A Biography by Gary Lachman.

It was some thirty-two years ago when this woman opened my eyes to worlds I only dreamed of; as inkling, wanderings and pondering.

I have traveled and wandered through many spiritual journeys and coming back towards her, this Epiphany of 2014 (2016) (2023), (2025) makes me realize that in truth she has never left my curious side.

Gary Lachman’s book is not an easy book to follow. He walks with us through so many chums and characters that it is more of a reference book than a simple reading biography. Yet, it can be both enjoyable and a challenge.

True to the motif of my own religiosity, I find myself aligned directly to a quote from Lachman’s book,

Day 8 of the Holy Days of Christmas

Red Roses...for Gloria and Shirley

The 8th day of the holy days of Christmas brings us to the Hierarchy of Scorpio. This is a primal triad of my astrological signature. Scorpio and Neptune hand in hand are my ascendant rising planets. My life is this motif but not all the time. This takes me to two individual women who are my friends and teachers.

Gloria Hays was the head of the Esoteric Department of the Rosicrucian Fellowship and Shirley Sharp was the head of the Healing Department. This Rosicrucian Fellowship’s foundation is in Oceanside California and is based on the teachings of Max Heindel.

Gloria was a spiritual diplomat of the highest degree. She was a hostess and spiritual adviser and my friend. I use to love to watch Shirley play the organ in the Temple, barefoot. Her passion for music sounded the magic; ascending and descending on those of us sitting in the healing temple. We were surrounded by the 12 Hierarchies. These two women were my champions of  light in the darkness.

It has always been a passion of mine to study the mysteries of life and death; Gloria and Shirley are my friends on this journey.  Today my focus for this holy of holies day is on the two of them as teachers  and friends. Rest In Peace and…

“Tell we meet,

Tell we meet,

Tell we meet,

The Rosy Cross to greet,

Tell we meet,

Tell we meet

God be with you tell we meet again…”

Day 7 off the Holy of Holies

Hummingbird is sitting on a branch

Looking around

Long thin beak

I heard a chirp too

Hummingbird quiet on a branch.

Today is a new moon

Like a vacuum it pulls

But like the humming bird

I will be still and quiet

Looking around…

Waiting for the time

To spontaneously vibrate my wings

And take off.

~ Poem By Hudley

The Hierarchy of Libra rules this day of the new moon.

“The human body center correlating with Libra is to be found in the adrenal glands. These glands, when functioning properly, create absolute physical and psychological balance through each organ and it’s processes.”

May the element of water not rise up as enemy,

May I see the realm of the white Buddha.

May the element of earth not rise up as an enemy,

May I see the realm of the yellow Buddha.

May the element of fire not rise up as an enemy,

May I see the realm of the red Buddha.

May the element of air not rise up as an enemy,

May I see the green Buddhas.

May the rainbow of the elements not rise up as enemies,

May I see the realms of all the Buddhas.

May the sounds, lights and rays not rise up as enemies,

May I see the infinite realms of the Peaceful and Wrathful Ones.

May I know all the sounds as my own sound,

May I know all lights as my own light

May I know all the rays as my own ray.

May I spontaneously know the bardo as myself,

May I attain the realms of the three Kayas. “

The Hierarchy of Virgo is the focus for today. The world mother is the symbol for meditation.  All those qualities of motherhood that we often take for granted come to mind. The little things of quality that often seem boring that we have to do for others.

The Phrygians that are the oldest humans stock call me Pessinuntia, Mother of the Gods, The aboriginal races of Attica call me Cecropian Minerva.

The Cyprians in their island-home call me Paphian Venus. The archer Cretans call me Diana Dictynna. The three-tongued Sicilina’s call me Stygian Proserpine.

The Eleusinians call me the ancient goddess Ceres. Some call me Juno. Some call me Bellona. Some call me Hecate.

Some call me Rhamnusia. But those who are enlightened by the earliest rays of that divinity the sun, the Ethiopians, the Arii, and the Egyptians who excel in antique lore, all worship me with their ancestral ceremonies and call me by my true name Queen Isis. “

“The greatest among you shall be the servant to all.”

Gospel of Matthew 23 :11.

To the new year Cheers!!!

Day five of the Holy Days of Christmas…

“Wrong will be right,

when Aslan comes in sight,

At the sound of his roar,

sorrows will be no more,

When he bares his teeth,

winter meets its death,

And when he shakes his mane,

we shall have spring again.”

Think how paradoxical this seems in our world ?

The fourth day of the Holy of Holies

Sun Flowers as the symbol of our opened solar plexus…

“Mysticism has its own dangers-from which the Hopis themselves have suffered acutely, as we shall see; and pragmatic Western science has bestowed immeasurable blessings upon all mankind. It is merely a matter of choosing different goals and the means of achieving them. The contrast of the two systems is mentioned here because this pathetically small and misunderstood minority group Hopis, are so strangely attuned to the precepts of another hemisphere rather than to the technological civilization engulfing them.”

~. Book of the Hopi by Frank Waters Pg. 27-28

The fourth day of the Holy of Holies is centered in our solar plexus. The Hierarchy is Cancer.

Between our belly button and our heart lies the solar plexus and here is our intuitive soul. The feelings that make us so human; Hate to love abides here. This is how we compass who we are in a group or in the world and how we know who we are as an individual. To be unique and rebellious: to be intuitive and in tune to the world as an insect’s antenna or the cat’s whiskers.

The Serpent Mound near Louden, Ohio.

“The oval mound represents the village. It was placed within the jaws of the snake to show that it was protected by the snake’s power.”

~ Book of the Hopi by Frank Waters Pg.41.

Serpent Mound Map blog size

What a wonderful symbol as a protector of our solar plexus. We do need to consciously protect it. It may not be a tribe or village. Just us or our family. It is thinking about all those bad and good things we do to others everyday, as human beings on this earth. Globally, we need to sometimes turn off the technologies of our life. What are we feeling and how does this relate to the little world around us and within us?

Yet, taking 10 minutes a day to watch a honey bee collecting nectar might be all the green we need to forgive a friend that betrayed us. Maybe it is about taking the time to listen to our guts and do something different, like taking a walk on the wild side.

Frank Waters

“I believe in that Hopi life and teachings completely. They’re good people. They have a good religion. Doing that ‘Book of the Hopi’ taught me a lot. We’re a right-brain people, a rational thinking people, a rational mind; we figure things out. But the Hopis are a left-brain people. They go by intuition and that intuition is geared to the religious side of things. We’re geared to the materialistic side. They don’t have, as we do, a Sunday religion.”

Day three of the Holy days

The hierarchy of Gemini illuminates our hands today.

Mom, camera and Holly 1990's by Hudley

“They are to be visualized as flower centers, fragrant, luminous and endowed with the precious gifts of healing, and bestowing benediction” Pg. 11

Yet maybe a nice hug or pat on the back might be more down to earth and human. Anything that we do with our hands we can make it a caring or creative gesture; A moment of conscious awareness in action.

“Be still and Know that I am Goddess [God].” Psalm 46:10

Maia, is the Goddess of May the hierarchy of Gemini.

“Romeo:

If I profane with my unworthiest hand

This holy shrine, the gentle fine is this:

My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand

To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss.

Juliet:

Good pilgrim, you do wrong your hand too much,

Which mannerly devotion shows in this;

For saints have hands that pilgrims’ hands do touch,

And palm to palm is holy palmers’ kiss.

Romeo:

Have not saints lips, and holy palmers too?

Juliet:

Ay, pilgrim, lips that they must use in prayer.

Romeo:

O, then, dear saint, let lips do what hands do;

They pray, grant thou, lest faith turn to despair.

Juliet:

Saints do not move, though grant for prayers’ sake.

Romeo:

Then move not, while my prayer’s effect I take.

Thus from my lips, by yours, my sin is purged.

Juliet:

Then have my lips the sin that they have took.

Romeo:

Sin from thy lips? O trespass sweetly urged!

Give me my sin again.”

The 12 days of Christmas. My religiosity is not bound to only the Christian story, yet it is dear to my heart, and I feel the need to be part of it now.

As memories of importance hold my hand, I feel fresh, clean, and inspired: the opposite of Christmas day. You see in the last few years I have lost Mother, father, and best friends. My siblings and I are selling the only enduring family home I know. I was born and raised there. I feel as if my roots have been cut off. It is a sad but free experience.

I am not alone in my experience. As an esoteric student and an academic student of religious studies I have concluded that all religions are based on vision, oral stories and then the text. For me, like William James, it is the experience that is the key to understanding the profound religious experience. Even if it is only witnessing the procession of the sun, moon, and stars.

Though I have walked and studied with the scientific and even atheistic mind. I rest best with the spiritual inventive mind instead. The Christian theologian and philosopher Pseudo Dionysius calls this Dionysianism, “The divination of the intelligence.”

Join me if you will or curse me. I have done both myself. I have been to the darkest parts of the mind, and I have witnessed and experienced the best of the mind and profound things.

Each of the 12 days will focus on a part of the human body. An astrological sign, a quote and then a disciple/ apostle of Christ. I will include images as well. Whatever I am inspired to post. The motif will unfold naturally as the days unfold.

Living Dead Hands

I am still riding the wave of the flu. Today I am drinking some Burgundy wine in a small crystal glass. The warmth of the drink warms me along with the fire in the fireplace. Even though a son follows me around the house and laughs as he touches my arm with his cold “living dead hands”… we laugh and I have time to write the daily WordPress prompt.

When I reflect and look over the vast amount of ways to learn I focus on individuals more than an educational system. The people I respect and learn from are those that learn by their own means. I often reflect on the MASTERS OF HUMAN LIFE… William Blake, Thomas Paine and Carl Jung.

Though Carl Jung had a vast and strong academic education he also had a separate very independent education going on at the same time.

“Reading and reflecting” is what suits me best because social stimuli and peer pressure both turn me off. I read books by many different authors on many different subjects. I like it this way best because  I can set my own inward goals. I am not studying to be a doctor, nurse or accountant or engineer. I am a philosopher.

My chosen field is love,  I am a philosopher of love.

DSC01668

I have been through university study and I learned a great deal. I find that politics get involved as one climbs higher in the education system.

Child’s play. I guess one has to really desire it. If the love of your chosen field is a love that is worth the sacrifices ; such as your identity. At times it is… but for me it is not a valid argument anymore. I say no,

DSC01665

The greatest reward is to study on ones own and come to knowledge on your own terms.  A good grade, an acknowledged pat on the back from a friend is just not the same. I never feel alone while reading a book, researching a subject, listening to music or when writing… but I often feel alone and frustrated around people because they are awkward at loving what they say they love and are so darn weird.

Our daimon

I am not interested in pop culture; it feels like many people follow it without thinking. It’s a comfortable space, but I find it dull and uninteresting. Pop culture seems to dominate businesses and publishers, as many feel pressured to conform. I appreciated giving up our multiple Times Warner channels, and I no longer read the L.A. Times. Now, I can choose what to include in my own culture.

DSC01632

I have this eccentric lady that follows me around. She whispers,

“That is betrayal, go for the balls. Seek revenge!!”

She has real character. She sees through the lies and has extreme foresight. If I don’t respond to her threats she pokes me in the belly. Then I get that confused chaos feeling right in the pit of my stomach. I spend a lot of time ignoring her.

I still feel her presence and if I shun her too long nasty cartoons manifest and manifestos of tyranny focus on the tip of fuck you on her fingers. She holds many concepts and catches them all in an epiphany, and with concentration can cut to the chase.

Her extreme pity brings waves of compassion, sorrow, and despair as if dusk were a disease to altruistically pawn away.

Enthusiastic and playful, with pints of beer, she may dance into oblivion. She is my daimon. If you see her in a dark alley, please don’t confront her.

Just observe her as a Praying Mantis on a flower; don’t touch her, as she may turn her head towards you.

The writer prefers using Yahoo for searches. After shopping and bringing groceries to the car, they went online to find a jazz song called Unsquare Dance by the Dave Brubeck Quartet, which they heard on KJazz 88.1 FM around 7:40 am. While doing this, they noticed a man in an SUV, aged 45 to 50, taking a picture of them, which they found creepy.

Before I looked  up this song and after I went shopping and put my grocers in the car seeing a strange man take a picture of me;  I went crazy in the kitchen. I cooked up some scallops , sesame seeds, yellow squash and zucchini.

I made black forest bacon and scallops without wooden spears to make my treat. I highlighted this all with some San Luis Obispo garlic sourdough bread and a uncap of my favorite coffee; Java Delight Donut Shop.

Bobbing at the top of the waters of the LETHE. Review of Push the Sky Away ~Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds

“…And here I come to the hill

I’m pushing my own wheel of love

I got love in my tummy and a tiny little pain…”

I have not bought an album in some time. We used to have an iTunes account. I don’t know if anyone notices the music posts that I use quite a lot from Nick Cave and The Bad Seed’s new album Push the Sky Away? It is about time again when I reward my kids and myself with the instant gratification of music. I feel that I have been using so many YouTube songs for free that it is about time to pay the piper.

I don’t feel comfortable ripping others off or taking things for free if an artist worked hard to create something beautiful.

Push The Sky Away is beautiful to me. I am enchanted by this album: The lyrics, music and singing by Nick Cave are pulling at my belly; bringing forth feelings that I have lost in the real world. He has become my musical companion of the netherworld. He inspires my dry and jaded libido as the rain, wind and the sea do. He speaks from the deep unconscious of longing and love.

Nick Cave is an expert in archetypal resurrection.

Son hot-burned some CDs for our flying machine on the way to and from school. While driving home and listening to the full album, I felt as if I was hovering over the dark asphalt streets. As a jet takes-off; I felt that feeling as if riding on a swing where I almost took off to the rain clouds above.

Nick Cave is a man from my generation and from the same rebellion. As we engage in this collective aging, I hear his wisdom!

 I know where he is!

He is at the same magic place of life. Yes, it is really magic! Nick’s music makes us slow down to listen and wonder. I cry with a wonderful longing that I have not felt in a long time.

“It gets you right down to your soul!”

“Walk on the Wild Side” is a Lou Reed song from his 1972 second solo album Transformer. David Bowie produced it. The song received wide radio coverage, despite its touching on taboo topics such as transsexualism, drugs, male prostitution, and oral sex. In the United States, RCA released the single using an edited version of the song without the reference to oral sex.

Being weird is always a terrible threat! A wonderful and eternal weirdo place way to be!! RIP Lou Reed!!

“For indiscriminate empathy, which is characteristic of Neptune, we often try to make this into a very exclusive and discriminating empathy for him alone. We can see the same kind of mechanism at work here that is suggested by a Uranus-Saturn contact. Even if the individual is not expressing Neptune in a particularly conscious way–and few do expect through the creative media of music or theater–this lucid and magical quality will be apparent to the person whose Saturn is affected. It is an entrancing quality while it is a terrible threat for although Neptune seems to say, “I completely understand and love and accept you, he will say the same to everyone indiscriminately.” ~ Liz Greene

When I was 14 years old the song Walk on the Wild Side was the hit song of a generation. The song reached mass appeal. I was not aware of The Velvet Underground or Andy Warhol during the sixties but by 1972 Lou Reed reached the place of “creative media of music,” where he would say “the same to everyone.”  I hated this song because the song began with my name. The kids at school already labelled me as a weirdo.

“Hey Holly want to take a walk on the wild side…hahahah!!”

Quiet and shy I took the bullying. Little did I know that in a few years I would be walking into a similar underground music scene that Lou Reed climbed out of; a creative flowing rebellious world of freedom, music, art, dark streets, and clubs!

I would be promoting a world of youthful Rock & Roll that, sometimes, does not age; only personally when we die at an age past forty something!!
